(EL PASO INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT – July 07, 2026) — Aoy Elementary School will welcome long time educator Iris Jiménez as its new principal for the 2026-27 school year.

Jiménez brings more than two decades of experience in public education, having served as a teacher, assistant principal, principal, and instructional leader. Throughout her career, she has remained committed to helping students succeed by supporting teachers, partnering with families, and fostering positive learning environments.

“Aoy Elementary is a community with a proud tradition and caring culture,” Jiménez said. Together, we’ll continue supporting student success while building on the great work that is already happening at Aoy.”

She earned a bachelor's degree in English and American Literature from the University of Texas at El Paso and holds two master's degrees from Sul Ross State University in Reading Education and School Administration. She is also certified as a Reading Specialist and Master Reading Teacher.

As she prepares for the new school year, Jiménez said her first priority is getting to know the students, staff, and families who make Aoy Elementary unique.
