(EL PASO INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT – July 13, 2026) — A new chapter is beginning for the students and staff at Park Elementary School. El Paso ISD has named Hermila Gamez-Alvardo as the campus’s new principal for the 2026-27 school year, positioning the experienced bilingual educator to lead the school’s high-achieving campus.
Gamez-Alvarado steps into the role with a versatile leadership background that spans both elementary and secondary education. She has dedicated her career to serving El Paso ISD as a Principal, Assistant Principal, and as an English Teacher.
Her deep expertise in managing dual-language and Gifted and Talented (GT) programs aligns perfectly with Park Elementary's robust offerings, which include an all-campus GT program and a dual-language learning community from prekindergarten through fifth grade.
“Park Elementary has a strong foundation, and I am excited for the opportunity to join this community and build upon the great work already happening,” Gamez-Alvarado said. “I look forward to partnering with our students, families, and staff to continue creating a school where every student feels valued, supported, and encouraged to reach their full potential.”
Gamez-Alvarado earned a bachelor’s degree in English Teaching from The University of Texas at El Paso and a master’s degree in Educational Leadership from UTEP. She holds a Texas Principal Certification, Texas Teacher Certification in English Language Arts and Reading, and Instructional Leadership Development certification.
