The Classroom & Beyond with Superintendent Dr. Brian Lusk

Principals and staff at training

Learning never stops! El Paso ISD staff are spending part of their summer strengthening their skills, collaborating with colleagues, and preparing for another year of supporting student success.

Hello El Paso ISD Community,

With the summer weeks flying by, we are officially less than three weeks away from welcoming our scholars back to campus on Monday, August 3, 2026! Our teams are working diligently to ensure that this upcoming school year is centered on driving student success and ensuring a seamless experience for our families.

At El Pas ISD success and hard work don’t take a summer break; I would like to recognize Emiliano Ferrán Martínez Caloca of Wiggs Middle School for placing in the top five in the nation during the National Spanish Spelling Bee contest. Shaheli De Silva of Young Women’s STEAM Research and Preparatory Academy also earned top national honors finishing in the top ten.

Keeping the classroom the center of our universe, for the 2026-27 SY students will be required to be present for at least 90% of instructional time. It is undeniable that children perform better when they show up, are empowered by teachers, and build meaningful connections with their peers. Aligning with state requirements on the 90% Attendance Rule allows us to put students in the best position to succeed; for more information please visit our website

We’re excited to partner with families to build excellent habits from the very first bell because our students have shown us that when we support them appropriately, they will exceed even the highest expectations.

Sincerely,

Dr. Brian Lusk

Superintendent of Schools

Things to Know

Review Our Campus Digital Device & Cell Phone Expectations

El Paso ISD Logo

To foster safe, distraction-free classrooms and maximize learning time, El Paso ISD enforces a strict digital device policy in compliance with state regulations. Students are required to turn off and store away cell phones, smartwatches, and tablets during official school hours. Devices may only be used for documented medical needs or approved educational plans. We appreciate our families partnering with us to keep our classrooms focused on success!

Check Your Campus Uniform and Dress Code Guidelines

Student at first day of school

El Paso ISD promotes a clean, safe, and professional learning environment. Before you finish your back-to-school clothes shopping, please remember that dress code policies vary across our district. All PK-8 campuses and select elementary schools require formal uniform attire, while others follow a standard, non-uniform policy. Specialty campuses like CCTE, Silva Magnet, and the Young Women’s STEAM Academy also have program-specific guidelines.

Access Grade-Level School Supply Lists

School Supplies

Ensuring your student has the right tools on Day One is a major step toward a confident start! Specialized school supply lists are now available online for Elementary (Pre-K through 5th grade) and Middle School (6th through 8th grade) students. For high school scholars, supply requirements vary by course schedule and will be provided by teachers during the first week of school. Keep these lists handy so you can take full advantage of Texas’ upcoming Annual Sales Tax Holiday to save on your back-to-school shopping! The district will not be providing school supplies for the 2026-27 school year.
