The amazing work happening every day in our classrooms is possible because of our entire team coming together. As part of a new initiative, El Paso ISD central office team members have been providing substitute coverage across our campuses. The idea is simple: walk in teachers’ shoes, keep costs down, and put strong, seasoned administrators back in classrooms when teachers are absent. It’s been inspiring to see how our staff have embraced the opportunity and our wider community has celebrated it.
Speaking of celebrations, Friday Night Lights kick off this week on August 28 and we’re pioneering a wonderful opportunity for our community to come together. Join us at the Tailgate before the Battle of the Claw and Southside Bowl games, 5:30 pm, and enjoy food, festivities, and fun. Click here to see a list of all athletic schedules.

I recently joined regional leaders and area superintendents at the El Paso Chamber State of Education & Workforce Address. The discussion centered on building innovative partnerships, aligning classroom learning with career opportunities, and strengthening the pipeline between public education and local economic development.
