A UTEP student helped El Paso ISD kickoff its annual Read Across the District event, and supported us in inspiring a new generation of readers!
Dear El Paso ISD Community,
I hope you enjoyed a relaxing Labor Day weekend with family and friends. As we return to campus, we are excited to celebrate our annual Read Across the District (RAD) tradition.
This week, students, teachers, staff, and community members are coming together to share the joy of reading and reinforce the importance of literacy. I had the opportunity to join this districtwide celebration and see firsthand the excitement that books bring to our classrooms.
Across the district, campuses are marking RAD through activities such as:
Dedicated reading time that brings entire school communities together around a good book.
Guest readers, including parents, community leaders, military members, and district staff.
Author visits and literacy-themed activities that spark imagination and encourage a lifelong love of reading.
We invite families to keep the celebration going at home by setting aside time to read together. Be sure to follow your campus on social media to see how students are participating throughout the week.

Our teachers continue to do great work every day at every campus. At Lamar Elementary, 5th-grade math teacher Ms. Salazar demonstrated strong classroom management through clear routines and structured protocols, while ensuring students had easy access to resources and learning tools that supported independence and engagement.
Things to Know
Parent-Teacher Conferences Start This Week
Parent-teacher conferences begin this month following scheduled early release days across the district. High schools kick off on September 9, followed by elementary schools on September 15, and middle/PK-8 schools on September 17. These meetings are a wonderful opportunity to connect with teachers and support your child's success.

It has been a joy meeting so many of our wonderful families during my recent Cafecito y Pan Dulce campus visits!
