(EL PASO INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT — Sept. 11, 2026) — Dozens of El Paso ISD high school students stepped into the spotlight as professional artists as their artwork was celebrated during a special reception at the El Paso Museum of Art.

The students created original works during the 2025-26 school year as part of “Creativity Through Our Eyes,” an exhibition featuring student artwork now on display at the El Paso Museum of Art. The reception brought together the student artists, their families, educators and community members to celebrate their accomplishments and recognize the students' work in a professional museum setting.

For the students, having their artwork displayed at the El Paso Museum of Art provided an opportunity to see their creativity move beyond the classroom and into a public gallery where it could be viewed and appreciated by the community.

“This experience gives our students an opportunity to see themselves not just as art students, but as artists,” said Andrea Smith, El Paso ISD Visual Arts Facilitator. “Having their work displayed in a professional museum is an incredible accomplishment, and we are so proud of the creativity, dedication and individuality they brought to this exhibition.”

The “Creativity Through Our Eyes” exhibition reflects El Paso ISD's commitment to providing students with opportunities to develop their creative talents and share their work with the broader community.

Through visual arts education, students develop skills that extend beyond creating artwork, including creative thinking, communication, problem-solving and the ability to express ideas and perspectives through their work.

The exhibition also gives students firsthand experience with what it means to have their work presented in a professional arts environment, providing a meaningful connection between their education and the broader creative community in El Paso.

“This is more than an art display,” Smith said. “It is a moment for students to recognize what they are capable of and to celebrate the work they have created. We want our students to know that their voices and perspectives matter, and that there is a place for them in the professional arts community.”

El Paso ISD congratulates the 67 student artists whose work is featured in “Creativity Through Our Eyes” and thanks the El Paso Museum of Art for providing students with the opportunity to share their creativity with the community.
