(EL PASO INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT – September 21, 2026) – El Paso ISD is celebrating its 45 campuses that have earned the Texas Education Agency’s Purple Star Campus Designation for the 2026-27 school year, recognizing their commitment to supporting military-connected students and their families.
The Purple Star Campus Designation recognizes Texas public school campuses that demonstrate a strong commitment to meeting the unique needs of students and families connected to the military. To earn the designation, campuses must meet established TEA criteria, including designating a campus military liaison and providing professional development related to military-connected students, maintaining an accessible military family webpage, implementing a campus transition program, and offering at least one required military-focused initiative.
“Military-connected families bring tremendous strength, service and diversity to our El Paso community, and our schools have an important role in making sure every student feels welcomed, supported and connected,” said EPISD Superintendent Dr. Brian Lusk. “I am proud of the work happening across these campuses to create supportive environments for students and families who serve our country.”
The Purple Star Campus Designation was established through Senate Bill 1557 and is awarded by TEA to campuses that meet the program’s established criteria. The designation is awarded for two years, with campuses required to reapply after the two-year period to maintain the designation.
