Financial Aid Requirement
In accordance with Texas Education Code (TEC), ยง28.0256, beginning with students enrolled in 12th grade during the 2022-2023 school year, each student must do one of the following in order to graduate:
Complete and submit a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA);
Complete and submit a Texas Application for State Financial Aid (TASFA)
Why fill out FAFSA?
HB 3 Mandate - all Texas seniors need to complete to graduate
It is the first step in the Financial Aid process - send out to ten colleges/universities in one submission
FAFSA most scholarships require you to complete before being awarded any scholarship
First step, must create an FSA ID - one for you and one for the parent
To create your FSA ID you will need your social security number, personal email, and cell phone number
What is EFC (Expected Family Contribution)?
EFC measures your family's financial strength
Used to determine eligibility for federal student aid.
How much aid will I receive?
By using the information on your FAFSA and your EFC, the financial aid office at your college will determine the amount of financial aid you will receive

Financial Aid (2023-2024)
Step one create your FSA ID -The FSA ID is a username and password combination you use to log in to U.S. Department of Education and will be used when completing your FAFSA application
Step two: FAFSA Application - the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, or FAFSA, is the form that determines your financial aid from the government and most colleges

FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) HB3 has mandated all Texas Seniors complete an application. FAFSA helps pay for college tuition.
You will need:
Your Social Securtiy number or
Your Alien Registration Number (if you are not a U.S. citizen)
Your parent's social security number
Your parents wage earnings statement from 2020
Your parents 1040 Income Tax Return from 2021
