A MESSAGE FROM DIANA SAYAVEDRA

Dear El Paso ISD,

As we approach Spring Break, I want to take a moment to thank each of you for your unwavering dedication and hard work throughout the year. Your commitment to our students and their success is truly inspiring. I encourage everyone to take this well-deserved break to rest, recharge, and spend quality time with loved ones. We look forward to seeing everyone back on March 17.

Congratulations to our outstanding Business Services team for their leadership and stewardship of district resources. Following the annual surveillance call with Fitch Ratings, El Paso ISD has maintained a strong 'AA' credit rating with a stable outlook. This affirmation reflects our district’s fiscal responsibility and commitment to financial stability. We remain focused on responsible financial management to ensure a strong future for our students and schools.

We are also pleased to announce that our Business Service Division has earned statewide recognition. The team received awards from the Association of School Business and the Texas Association of School Business. We are proud of their hard work and dedication to making the district a leader in fiscal management.

El Paso ISD’s Destination District Redesign (DDR) continues to make significant progress in fostering a sense of community during this transitional period. At our latest Building Community Retreat, school leaders, teachers, and parents came together to develop unified plans and create a welcoming environment for students and staff. We are grateful for the dedication of our school communities as we navigate these changes together.

Our Northeast Career Fair was a fantastic opportunity for students from Andress, Chapin, and Irvin high schools to gain valuable insights into their future careers. Students participated in mock interviews, received resume tips, and engaged in breakout sessions designed to prepare them for the workforce. These experiences are crucial in shaping their professional paths, and we appreciate everyone who contributed to making this event a success.

I also want to give a huge shoutout to the 54 El Paso ISD students who have qualified for the Texas History Day competition in April! These students showcased their exceptional research and presentation skills at the district-level competition hosted at UTEP. We are incredibly proud of their hard work and dedication. Special recognition also goes to Mrs. Kristen Shaver from Hornedo Middle School, who was honored with the Outstanding Teacher Award for her commitment to historical research and education. We look forward to seeing our students shine at the state competition and beyond.

This week, I had the honor of attending the State of the City address, where Mayor Renard Johnson outlined the city’s priorities and vision for the future. El Paso ISD is proud to partner with the City of El Paso in strengthening our community and ensuring that education remains at the forefront of our city's progress. Collaboration between our district and city leaders is essential as we work together to create opportunities and bright futures for our families.

Thank you for all that you do. Enjoy your Spring Break, and I look forward to seeing everyone refreshed and ready for the remainder of the school year!

It starts with us.

Sincerely,

Diana Sayavedra
