(EL PASO INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT – Aug. 13, 2026) — El Paso ISD earned an overall “B” rating with a score of 82 in the 2026 state accountability ratings, improving its districtwide score as a majority of its schools earned A or B ratings, and several schools posted significant year-over-year gains.
Among the district’s strongest results, Murphree PK-8 and Guillen Middle School each moved from an F in 2025 to a B in 2026, while Tinajero PK-8 improved nine points and moved from a C to a B. The three-letter-grade improvement for Guillen is especially meaningful as El Paso ISD works to ensure academic progress reaches students in every part of the district, including campuses serving communities that have historically faced greater barriers to opportunity.
Across El Paso ISD, 39 campuses earned an A or a B rating this year, including 13 that earned an A.
The results mark broad-based improvement across elementary, middle, and high schools and provide evidence of academic momentum as the district continues to focus resources and support on classroom instruction, teacher development, and campus leadership.
“Classrooms are the center of our universe, and these results reflect the incredible work happening every day between our students and educators,” Superintendent Dr. Brian Lusk said. “Our focus is on strong instruction, meaningful coaching and support, and ensuring our teachers and campus leaders have what they need to be successful. Everything we do comes back to one goal: student success.”
The district’s A-rated campuses span grade levels and school models, including neighborhood elementary schools, middle schools, magnet and early college programs and two comprehensive high schools.

El Paso ISD campuses also received 38 Distinction Designations from the state, recognizing exceptional achievement in specific areas of academic performance. Charles Middle School and Guerrero Elementary School earned every distinction designation for which they were eligible.
The 2026 results show improvement not only among the district’s highest-performing schools but also at campuses working to accelerate student achievement. The movement at Murphree, Guillen and Tinajero, coupled with the decline in C-rated campuses, reflects gains across a broader range of schools.
As El Paso’s pioneering public school district, El Paso ISD serves students through neighborhood schools, specialty programs, magnets and early college campuses. This year’s accountability results demonstrate academic strength across that portfolio and continued progress in the district’s work to improve outcomes for students.
