Military Outreach
Greetings and salutations! It is my pleasure to introduce myself as Stephanie Montes, the Military Family Liaison at Burges High School. My primary responsibility is to provide support to military-connected students and their parents by connecting them with available resources in both the local and military communities. I serve as the liaison between military-connected students and their families and the campus, working collaboratively to ensure that their unique needs are met.
One of my key roles is to identify military-connected students and ensure they are properly coded through the Texas Student Data System Public Education Information Management System (TSDS PEIMS). Additionally, I work to determine the campus-based support and services available to these students based on their high mobility and unique needs. I also assist in coordinating campus-based programs that are relevant to military-connected students.
As a former active-duty Air Force member, a member of the Georgia Army National Guard, and a military spouse for 21 years, I have gained a wealth of experience in supporting military families. I even had the opportunity to work for DODEA (Department of Defense Education Activity) at Heidelberg Middle School for three years in Germany. My family and I have experienced the challenges of relocating and transitioning to new schools, and I am eager to use my expertise to help other military-connected families navigate these challenges.
I am committed to working with you and your children to ensure they receive the best possible education. As we strive to become a Purple Star Campus, I encourage you to become involved with the school and help us achieve this goal. Please do not hesitate to contact me at school by calling (915) 236-7236 or emailing me at Email Stephanie Montes if you require any assistance. I am always here to help!
