Michael Soyka Fort Bliss Garrison Commander

Spring is already here and as we look forward to the month of April, we will celebrate the Month of the Military Child (MOMC). This year’s theme is, “Brave Hearts, Bright Futures,” which reminds us of the incredible resilience and strength our military children demonstrate every day. At Fort Bliss, we are proud of our continued partnership with the El Paso Independent School District (EPISD), which plays a vital role in supporting the academic success and well-being of our military-connected students. Our collaboration is built on trust, shared commitment, and open dialogue between the military community and our local schools. Maintaining clear and consistent communication ensures we can quickly address challenges, celebrate achievements, and provide the stability our students need to thrive — even amid the unique demands of military life. I encourage all military families to attend the Showcase PreK–12 Event at the Centennial Banquet and Conference Center on April 9 from 5–7 p.m., where district representatives will provide information and resources on specialty programs, athletics, academic programs for families to explore. Resource tables will be available. For more information contact the School Liaison Office at 915-569-5064. Together, Fort Bliss and EPISD, remain dedicated to empowering our military children — our brave hearts — as they build bright futures filled with opportunity and promise. — Col. Michael V. Soyka
