Dear El Paso ISD,
The first day of school is just around the corner, and excitement is building across El Paso ISD! Campuses across the district are filled with energy as students walk through our doors ready to learn, grow, and shine on Monday, August 4. Whether it’s your first day in Pre-K or your final year in high school, we’re thrilled to welcome you back for what promises to be an incredible 2025-26 school year.
This week has been full of energy and inspiration as I joined our Back to School Fiestas across the district. It was a joy to meet so many students, families, and staff. I also had the opportunity to reconnect with our incredible teachers and staff during the “It Starts with Us” events, and what an amazing way to kick off the 2025–26 school year! The momentum is building, and I can’t wait to see all the great things we’ll accomplish together.
As we prepare for the big day, I encourage everyone to checkout this week’s edition of our newsletter, which includes everything you need to know to get the year started right. If you’re not yet subscribed to our newsletter then click here to sign up! You can also find back to school information on our District website.
El Paso ISD continues to innovate with the launch of new elementary academies designed to spark curiosity and unlock student potential. These specialized programs are built to inspire curiosity, boost creativity, and empower students through hands‑on learning. We invite you to visit our website for more information.
We also want to remind families about an important update regarding cell phone use during the school day. In compliance with Texas House Bill 1481, students must power down and store their devices during school hours, from the first bell to the last. This law supports a safe and focused learning environment, and in El Paso ISD, we call it: Be Present & Power Down. Learn more about the new policy and exemptions here: https://www.episd.org/page/cellphonepolicy.
Don’t forget to check your child’s bus route before the first day of school! You can find updated route information here: episd.org/page/busroutes.
It’s going to be a great school year! Let’s make this first day of school, one to remember. I’ll be out visiting campuses and hope to see many of you along the way.
It starts with us.
Sincerely,
Martha Aguirre
Interim Superintendent, El Paso ISD
