(EL PASO INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT – July 3, 2024) — Dr. Green Elementary School marked a significant milestone earlier this year by celebrating its 30th anniversary. On June 6, students and staff commemorated the occasion with a balloon release and various fun activities led by principal Ms. Guadalupe Pineda, who became the principal of the campus in early 2024.
Located on the west side, the school first opened its doors to the community in 1993 and currently serves over 400 students from pre-K through fifth grade. Beginning in the 2024-25 academic year, the campus will introduce the Montessori program, continuing its long-standing tradition of providing a well-rounded education to students of all backgrounds. This addition offers families more educational choices to meet their children's needs. Isabel Justo was named as the Montessori Principal at that location.
Dr. Green Elementary is named after Dr. J. Leighton Green, who was born on May 29, 1899. Dr. Green practiced general surgery and gynecology in El Paso for more than half a century. He left behind a legacy of service to others and a tireless dedication to education.
