(EL PASO INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT — June 19, 2025) — The achievements of three outstanding El Paso ISD students were recently recognized with a special honor: scholarships from the Burger King Foundation. Seniors Ivan Ramirez (El Paso High School), Sophia Keiser (Franklin High School), and Elsa Sarinana (Franklin High School) were among 20 students in the region selected to receive a $1,000 award through the Burger King Scholars Program.
The students were celebrated during a community ceremony on Tuesday, June 17, at El Paso Community College, where Burger King representatives, local educators, and families gathered to honor the academic excellence, leadership, and dedication shown by recipients.
The Burger King Foundation has awarded more than $64 million in scholarships to over 54,000 students across North America since its founding in memory of co-founder James W. McLamore. In El Paso, local Burger King teams helped raise more than $20,000 to fund this year’s scholarship recipients.
The program serves as a reminder of how meaningful community partnerships can be in expanding opportunities for students.
