(EL PASO INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT – March 27, 2025) – El Paso ISD is proud to take center stage at the 2025 Texas Association of Student Councils (TASC) Conference, set to be held in Arlington, Texas from March 29 - 31. This prestigious event, hosted by the Burges and Coronado High School student councils, will bring together student leaders from across the state to collaborate, share ideas, and develop essential leadership skills.
Hosting the TASC Conference is a tremendous honor for El Paso ISD, showcasing the district’s commitment to student leadership, academic excellence, and community engagement.
"The opportunity to represent El Paso ISD on such a big stage is incredibly exciting," said Giuliana Daniels, a senior at Coronado High School. "We have put in a lot of time and effort making this conference one to remember! We want our student leaders to take away the importance of pushing themselves beyond what they think they can do and knowing they are capable of so much more. Our three days each have a theme: be bold, think big, and go beyond.”
TASC, established in 1937, is the nation’s largest student council organization, serving more than 1,400 schools across Texas, according to TASC. The association provides students with opportunities to develop leadership skills, promote civic engagement, and positively impact their schools and communities.
In recognition of El Paso ISD’s leadership role at this year’s conference, Superintendent Diana Sayavedra has been invited to speak at the event. Her address will highlight the district’s dedication to empowering students and fostering a culture of leadership.
“It is an incredible honor to see our students take the lead on such a prestigious event,” said Superintendent Sayavedra. “El Paso ISD is committed to providing students with opportunities to develop leadership skills that will serve them throughout their lives. I look forward to celebrating their hard work and witnessing the impact they will have on their peers across the state.”
With support from the El Paso ISD Education Foundation, the student councils at Burges and Coronado have already planned what promises to be an engaging and inspiring experience for student leaders statewide.
"We are incredibly proud of our students for taking on this leadership role," said Ruth Bohlin, Student Council Advisor at Burges High School. “We love the opportunity for our students to participate in events like this because it allows them to shine at the state level. Our students are the driving force behind this project and that’s what sets this conference apart from the others. It allows for our students to grow as leaders.”
By hosting this statewide leadership conference, El Paso ISD continues to reinforce its commitment to fostering student growth, leadership, and success beyond the classroom.
