(EL PASO INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT – October 28, 2024) — Students from El Paso ISD showcased their scientific creativity and knowledge during the KTSM-TV The More You Know - Weatherfest 2024 contest, taking home top honors in multiple categories. The event, held at the Outlet Shoppes at El Paso, highlighted the impressive work of elementary, middle, and high school students from El Paso ISD and other local students. 

In a competition filled with innovative science projects focused on weather and environmental topics, Franklin High School stood out by winning the award for Best High School for El Paso ISD. Their dedication and understanding of scientific concepts earned them high marks from judges. 

At the middle school level, Bobby Joe Hill claimed the top prize for El Paso ISD, securing the Best Middle School award for El Paso ISD and Best Overall Middle School in the contest. Their project demonstrated not only creativity but a strong grasp of meteorological concepts, impressing the judges and audience alike. 

In the elementary division, Herrera Elementary School took home two significant honors: Best Elementary School for El Paso ISD and Best Overall Elementary School in the competition. Herrera’s students presented their weather-related science project with great enthusiasm and thorough research, earning them recognition as the top-performing elementary school overall. 

The Weatherfest contest provided students with an exciting opportunity to dive into the science behind weather phenomena and demonstrate their understanding in a hands-on way. Participants and attendees alike were inspired by the innovative projects on display, which covered a range of topics related to weather patterns, climate science, and environmental awareness. 

El Paso ISD is proud of the dedication and hard work of all its students who participated in the Weatherfest contest. Their achievements are a reflection of the district's commitment to fostering a love of science and learning in students of all ages.
