EL PASO INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT – Sept. 18, 2026) — El Paso Independent School District has launched a public financial dashboard, giving families, employees and taxpayers a closer look at district finances as it continues efforts to strengthen its financial position and make the most of available resources.
The dashboard provides easy-to-understand information on enrollment, revenue, expenditures and payroll. It is part of the district’s broader commitment to financial transparency and ensuring resources are used efficiently to support students and schools.
District leaders say the financial outlook has improved and they do not anticipate additional workforce reductions during the 2026-27 school year.
Throughout the year, the district will closely monitor staffing, enrollment, payroll and other financial indicators through monthly accountability reports. These reviews will help identify emerging challenges and ensure resources remain aligned with student and campus needs.
The district is also taking steps to address a longstanding imbalance in its employee health insurance fund.
For years, health insurance premiums remained unchanged while healthcare costs continued to rise, creating structural challenges within the fund. District officials say premium increases will be necessary to restore its long-term financial health and ensure sustainable coverage for employees and their families.
Another part of the district’s strategy is working to maximize funding available through state programs that recognize strong student outcomes and effective school leadership.
Through the Teacher Incentive Allotment and principal performance-based compensation programs, the district receives additional state funding that helps attract, retain and recognize high-performing teachers and campus leaders.
"We have made meaningful progress in strengthening our financial position, and we are encouraged by the trends we are seeing," Superintendent Dr. Brian Lusk said. "Our focus is on maintaining stability for our employees and schools, addressing the challenges in our health insurance fund and making sure we are taking advantage of every opportunity to bring additional resources into the district. That includes recognizing the excellent work happening in our classrooms while ensuring El Paso ISD is well-positioned for the future."
