IRVIN HIGH SCHOOL CLASS OF 2026 LAUNCHES TOWARD COLLEGE, CAREERS, AND SERVICE

(EL PASO INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT – June 09, 2026) — Irvin High School celebrated the accomplishments of 214 graduates as the Class of 2026 crossed the stage ready to pursue futures in higher education, healthcare, military service, and careers across a variety of fields.

Leading the class was Valedictorian Kela Michelle Payne and Salutatorian Yuliana Arlet Reyes, whose academic achievements exemplify the dedication and perseverance demonstrated by this year's graduates.

The campus also recognized Sammar Torres as the All Irvin Boy and Candyce Alexa Chavez as the All Irvin Girl.

Among the notable members of the Class of 2026 is Natalie Ocon, who graduated early through the Texas First Early High School Completion Program. The state initiative allows eligible students to graduate ahead of schedule while meeting Distinguished Level of Achievement requirements. Natalie earned a $10,000 scholarship to support her college education and future career goals.

Irvin High School also celebrated Erick Estrada and Mia Frias, who were named UTEP Terry Scholars, a prestigious honor recognizing academic excellence, leadership, and a commitment to service.

The Class of 2026 achieved remarkable success through early college opportunities as well. Approximately 20 percent of graduates earned a Multidisciplinary Studies Associate of Arts degree while simultaneously completing their high school diploma requirements. Additionally, 13 students completed Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) coursework through El Paso Community College, preparing them for careers in healthcare and public service.

The graduating class also demonstrated a strong commitment to serving their country. This year, Irvin graduates will enlist in every branch of the United States Armed Forces:

• Air Force — Marvin Wade
• Marines — Noel Hidalgo and Gabriel Cruz
• Army — Martha Avalos
• Navy — Christian Nava

"The Class of 2026 represents the very best of Irvin High School. Whether they are heading to college, entering the workforce, serving in the military, or pursuing careers in healthcare and other fields, these graduates have demonstrated determination, resilience, and a commitment to excellence," Principal Bobby Stives. "We are incredibly proud of all they have accomplished and excited to see what they will achieve next."

From early college graduates and future healthcare professionals to scholarship recipients and military enlistees, the Irvin High School Class of 2026 represents the many pathways available to today's students.
