A MESSAGE FROM DIANA SAYAVEDRA

Dear El Paso ISD,

As we close out September, I want to highlight an important cause: Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. El Paso ISD stands in solidarity with children and families affected by this disease. We encourage everyone to recognize the warning signs of childhood cancer and support those in the fight. This month, we proudly wore gold to raise awareness, and I thank everyone who participated in showing compassion for this vital cause.

We are also excited to announce our involvement in El Paso Giving Day. This annual event unites our community to support important causes, including education. This year, we’ve partnered with Marathon Petroleum, which is offering a $5,000 matching grant during the early giving period from October 10 to 17. Every dollar you donate will be doubled, helping us provide greater support to programs funded by the El Paso ISD Education Foundation. This foundation plays a crucial role in advancing student success through scholarships, grants, and resources for innovative classroom projects. I encourage everyone to contribute and make a lasting impact.

I want to recognize Jill Voytko and Celina Chapa, two dedicated staff members currently in Washington, D.C., advocating for our district through the Impact Aid Program. Impact Aid is essential for supporting the education of military-connected students, and we are grateful for their efforts in securing the federal funding our district needs to serve our students effectively.

Lastly, I invite you to join us for the final Destination District Redesign Phase II meeting at Franklin High School on Monday, September 30. This meeting marks a significant step in our journey to reshape the future of El Paso ISD, and your participation is vital. Phase III will begin in November, and we look forward to hearing more from our community as we continue this important work.

Thank you for your continued support of our students, staff, and community.

It Starts With Us.

Sincerely,

Diana Sayavedra
