Dear El Paso ISD Community,
This Monday, we have a meaningful opportunity to pause and honor the extraordinary men and women who have served our country on Veterans Day. Their dedication and sacrifice inspire us every day. I encourage each of you to take a moment to express our appreciation, whether by attending a community event or reflecting on their contributions. Our veterans are a cherished part of our community, and we are deeply grateful for their service.
This week, we’re also celebrating the joy of reading with our annual Read Across the District (RAD) event! Today, I had the pleasure of visiting Bobby Joe Hill Elementary, where I was greeted by so many bright smiles and eager readers. Since 2014, RAD has been a beloved tradition, uniting students, teachers, and families across El Paso ISD in 30 minutes of reading, themed events, guest readers, and library visits. It’s truly heartwarming to see the excitement for reading light up our classrooms and libraries. Let’s keep nurturing this love for literacy—reading truly opens doors to a world of endless possibilities! I want ot give a big shout out to librarian Emilse Font for helping to put the event together! El Paso ISD recognizes that part of success in early learning comes from reading. Check out our Buenas Noches page to inspire your little one to gain a love for literacy.
We are also thrilled to spotlight the experiences of our young women who took part in Marathon Refinery’s Girls in STEM Day. This hands-on event introduced our students to the exciting world of STEM careers through engaging activities and a tour of the refinery plant. We are thankful to Marathon Refinery for their inspiring partnership, which encourages our students to dream big and explore new career paths.
Finally, I want to remind our families about the upcoming Destination District Redesign (DDR) community meetings. Your input is invaluable as we plan for the future of our district. These meetings provide a chance for us to connect, discuss, and shape the vision for our schools together. I encourage you to join us—meeting details along with all information associated with the DDR Plan are available on our DDR webpage.
Thank you for your continued support and dedication to our students. Together, we’re building an exceptional district, one step at a time.
It starts with us.
Sincerely,
Diana Sayavedra
