Dear El Paso ISD Community,
As we prepare to observe Martin Luther King Jr. Day on Monday, January 20, and celebrate the beginning of a new presidential term, I want to take a moment to wish everyone a peaceful and restful day off. Dr. King’s legacy reminds us of the enduring importance of equality, justice, and service to others. Let us honor his impact by reflecting on how we can continue to drive positive change in our schools and throughout our community.
I would also like to remind our families that priority registration opened, Monday, January 13th and will stay open until March 31st for students impacted by the upcoming school closures under the Destination District Redesign initiative. To assist with this transition, resources such as campus information and support services are available on the El Paso ISD website’s transition page. I encourage all families to utilize these tools to ensure a smooth and successful transition for their children.
This week, we are proud to celebrate the Chapin High School cheerleaders as they prepare to compete in the National Cheerleaders Association High School Nationals in Dallas, Texas, from January 24 to January 26. This prestigious competition highlights the incredible skill and commitment of student-athletes from across the nation. We are immensely proud of our Chapin cheerleaders and wish them the best of luck as they represent El Paso ISD on this national stage!
We also extend our best wishes to all participants in the 46th Annual Bowie Wrestling Invitational happening this weekend. This highly anticipated event will bring together student-athletes from over 25 schools across El Paso County, showcasing the dedication, talent, and sportsmanship of young athletes in our community. Good luck to everyone competing in this exciting tradition!
In addition, I would like to recognize Don Haskins PK-8 for hosting a special ceremony on Tuesday, January 14, to honor its newest National Elementary Honor Society inductees. This program highlights students’ academic excellence and commitment to leadership, responsibility, and service. Congratulations to these outstanding students for their achievements—you exemplify the values of hard work and dedication that define our district.
Lastly, I want to extend a special thank you and shout-out to our Board of Trustees as we recognize them this month. Their dedication, vision, and leadership play a vital role in shaping the future of El Paso ISD and ensuring that our students have access to a high quality education. Please join me in expressing gratitude to our Board of Trustees for their service to our schools, families, and community.
Thank you for being an essential part of the El Paso ISD family. Together, we are shaping a brighter future for our students, our schools, and our community.
It starts with us.
Sincerely,
Diana Sayavedra
