A MESSAGE FROM MARTHA AGUIRRE

Dear El Paso ISD,

Our hearts are with all communities affected by recent tragic events in schools. We send love, strength, and prayers to the families, students, and educators impacted by these devastating moments. Events like these remind us of the importance of compassion and care for one another.

Amid these challenging times, it was inspiring to see our community come together for positive action. Earlier this week, I had the honor of joining local education leaders at the City of El Paso Superintendent Roundtable hosted by Congresswoman Veronica Escobar. Together, we engaged in meaningful conversations about state and federal funding for public schools, as well as new opportunities for students in the El Paso area. I am grateful for Congresswoman Escobar’s leadership and commitment to ensuring our students have every opportunity to succeed.

Please keep an eye out for an email that was sent out about the annual Federal Impact Aid Form. This form is essential to securing critical funding from the U.S. Department of Education. The funds directly support our classrooms, teachers, and programs. Completing the form takes only a few minutes, but it makes a big difference. The deadline to submit is Thursday, Sept. 18. Thank you in advance for your partnership.

I also encourage you to check out the EPISD Transformation Through Art exhibit, which runs from Aug. 30 through Sept. 30. This special showcase features artwork from several of our talented student-artists. I invite you to stop by, celebrate their creativity, and see the incredible work our students are producing.

Friday night lights are officially back! As football season kicks off, I want to wish all of our athletes, on the field, the court, the track, and beyond, the very best this season. Let’s continue to show our support for all of our student-athletes who dedicate time, discipline, and heart to representing El Paso ISD with pride. Click here to view schedules and purchase tickets.

This week, we are also spotlighting Dr. Sonia Aguilar, Assistant Director of External Funds. I encourage you to read her inspiring story here: Dr. Aguilar’s Story. Her dedication and leadership are making a difference for our district every day.

As we head into the Labor Day weekend, I hope you enjoy a restful three-day break with your loved ones. Take this time to recharge and celebrate the contributions of workers everywhere who help make our community stronger.

It starts with us.

Sincerely,

Martha Aguirre
Superintendent, El Paso ISD
