Dear El Paso ISD,
Spring Break is almost here! From March 5 to March 14, our students and teachers will enjoy a well-earned break to rest and recharge before the final stretch of the school year.
During this time, select students have been identified to participate in our Spring Intersession, happening March 5-7. This program is designed to provide targeted academic support. Elementary and middle school students will focus on Math and Reading, while high school students will have opportunities for credit recovery, grade recovery, and End-of-Course (EOC) exam preparation. Additionally, we are offering a specialized Emergent Bilingual program for Pre-K and kindergarten students to support the developmental needs of our youngest learners.
Transportation and meals will be available at participating campuses. For more information, please visit this link.
I also want to take a moment to celebrate Mesita Elementary’s own Anaya Tonde, who won the El Paso Regional Spelling Bee and is now heading to Washington, D.C., to compete in the Scripps National Spelling Bee! Anaya’s determination, preparation, and love for learning embody the excellence we strive for in El Paso ISD. We are so proud of her, and we’ll be cheering her on as she represents our district at the national level.
Our El Paso ISD Mariachi programs also hit a high note at the UIL State Mariachi Festival. Franklin High School earned a prestigious Superior rating, while Austin, Chapin, and Coronado High Schools received Excellent ratings. Congratulations to our talented students and directors for their hard work and passion for music!
We also want to congratulate the Chapin High School boys basketball team who advanced to the Elite 8 of the UIL Class 5A, Division I playoffs! The Huskies took on Birdville High School Friday in Andrews, Texas. This is Chapin’s third consecutive trip to the Elite 8, and we are so proud of their continued success. Go Huskies!
On the operations side, El Paso ISD has once again been recognized for its excellence in financial management. The Texas Association of School Business Officials (TASBO) honored our district with the Award of Excellence in Financial Management and the Award of Merit for Purchasing Operations. These recognitions reflect our continued commitment to fiscal responsibility, transparency, and sound stewardship of taxpayer dollars.
A friendly reminder that we are offering every parent a free Qustodio Parental App account. Qustodio will give you important insights into your child’s online activity on their school device. You can also use it to review and manage activities on other devices in your home. Learn more about Qustodio.
Please visit www.qustodio.com/my-school and register using the same email address you already use for Parent Portal and Rooms. Once registered, follow the steps to verify your account.
I want to express my gratitude to our students, teachers, staff, and families for their dedication and hard work. Let’s finish strong next week before taking some well-deserved time to rest and enjoy time with our loved ones.
It starts with us.
Sincerely,
Diana Sayavedra
Superintendent, El Paso ISD
