Dear El Paso ISD,
I want to start by saying thank you to everyone who has contributed to our Destination District Redesign (DDR) meetings. Your voices and insights have been vital as we work together to shape the future of our district. Our final Phase II meeting is on Monday, September 16, at Franklin High School. Details are available here.
This week marked a special milestone for Jefferson High School, which celebrated its 75th anniversary. On Wednesday, the school hosted a memorable parade with alumni proudly representing their respective decades. Tomorrow, the community will continue the festivities with a celebration at the El Paso County Coliseum at 5 p.m., featuring live music performances and an opportunity to reminisce and honor Jefferson’s rich history.
Additionally, we’re thrilled to celebrate three El Paso ISD students named National Merit Semifinalists: Benjamin Ingram of Coronado High School, and Kelly Dang and Samuel Rivas of Franklin High School. They’re among 16,000 finalists nationwide competing for this prestigious recognition, which underscores their exceptional academic performance. We’re incredibly proud of their hard work and dedication—congratulations to these standout students!
A big thank you to all the parents who attended our recent Parent-Teacher Conferences. Your involvement is vital to your children’s success and helps build a strong support system for their academic and personal growth. Your partnership with our teachers is key in creating an environment where every student can thrive.
I want to invite all staff members to El Paso ISD Night at the Locomotive on Saturday, September 21. It’s a great chance for our district family to unite, enjoy a soccer game, and strengthen our community bond. I hope to see you there!
I want to address a critical issue affecting many school districts nationwide, including El Paso ISD and other districts in the region. We always encourage everyone to report threats made against our campuses whether the threat is made online or overheard in a conversation. I also want to emphasize that false threats will not be tolerated. Each report is thoroughly investigated, and false threats will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
Thank you for your ongoing dedication and support. Together, we’re making a difference and shaping a bright future for our students.
It Starts With Us.
Sincerely,
Diana Sayavedra
Superintendent of Schools
