Dear El Paso ISD Community,
As we begin February, we have the privilege of celebrating Black History Month, a time to honor the contributions, achievements, and legacy of African Americans throughout history. I encourage everyone to take part in the meaningful district and campus activities planned this month. This is a valuable opportunity for us to reflect, learn, and engage in conversations about our history.
In addition to this celebration, I am excited to share updates on the many initiatives shaping the future of our district and students.
First, I want to thank everyone who participated in the voting process for the 2025–26 and 2026–27 Academic Calendars. Your input is essential as we finalize schedules that enhance instructional time and create targeted opportunities for student success. Together, we are building calendars that reflect the needs and priorities of our community.
Our Destination District Redesign (DDR) efforts continue to progress. We are committed to reimaging education in El Paso ISD by aligning our resources, programs, and campuses to create innovative opportunities for all students. Priority registration is still open for families impacted by the redesign ensuring that the students have the support they need to select their new campuses for the 2025-26 school year. For more information on the DDR transition process and resources available to support families, please visit www.episd.org/page/ddrtransition.
A reminder, parent-teacher conferences will take place next week across our district. Elementary parent-teacher conferences will be held on Tuesday, February 4, high school conferences for Wednesday, February 5, and middle/PK-8 conferences for Thursday, February 6. These conferences are a vital opportunity for parents and guardians to engage with teachers, discuss their child's progress, and work collaboratively to ensure academic success. I encourage all families to take advantage of this time to strengthen the connection between home and school.
I would like to congratulate the El Paso High School Mock Trial team for winning the Region 19 Mock Trial Championship! Their success secures them a spot at the 46th annual Texas High School Mock Trial competition in March. I am equally proud of the teams from Austin, Franklin, and Coronado High Schools, who competed with remarkable dedication and teamwork. Their achievements inspire us all and highlight the exceptional talent within our district.
Additionally, I want to commend the students who participated in the regional robotics competition this past weekend. The event showcased their creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills—qualities that will help them become tomorrow’s leaders. Congratulations to all the students who competed and demonstrated the power of innovation!
Together, we are building a brighter future for El Paso ISD, one step at a time.
It starts with us.
Sincerely,
Diana Sayavedra
