(EL PASO INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT – February 13, 2025) – El Paso ISD is proud to announce the appointment of Donald Belknap as the new principal of Western Hills Elementary School. Belknap, a dedicated educator with a passion for student success, brings years of leadership experience to his new role.

Belknap is no stranger to Western Hills, having previously served as the school’s assistant principal for nearly six years before transitioning to Franklin High School as an assistant principal. His extensive background in education includes teaching fifth grade at Lundy Elementary, serving as an educational consultant for EPISD Fine Arts and Health & Wellness programs, and participating in various district leadership initiatives.

“I am honored to return to Western Hills Elementary as principal,” Belknap said. “This campus holds a special place in my heart, and I am excited to work alongside our dedicated educators, students, and families to continue fostering a positive and enriching learning environment.”

Belknap’s leadership experience extends beyond the classroom. He has played an integral role in district-wide strategic planning efforts, served on the EPISD Fine Arts Strategic Planning Committee, and was named Region 19 Elementary Teacher of the Year in 2015.

His commitment to education and student development aligns with El Paso ISD’s mission to inspire and empower students for success.
