Dear El Paso ISD,
What a great start to the new school year! I had the immense pleasure of visiting several campuses this week, and I am overjoyed by the vibrant energy and enthusiasm from our students, teachers, and families. It was a delight to personally welcome back our students and staff, witnessing firsthand the joy and eagerness to embark on this new academic journey. Meeting with so many of you has filled me with optimism and excitement for all the incredible learning and growth that awaits us this year.
I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to all our media partners for your incredible coverage of our back-to-school events. Your presence on our campuses and the stories you share help to highlight the dedication and hard work of our entire El Paso ISD community. We deeply appreciate your support in keeping our community informed and engaged as we embark on this new academic year.
With the new school year also comes the excitement of high school sports returning. We are thrilled to see our students compete in various athletic events throughout the year, showcasing their talent, dedication, and teamwork. You can check out the athletic schedules by click here. We hope to see you all out there cheering our students on!
I also want to remind you that you can start buying tickets for our athletic events now. You can purchase tickets here. The new website makes it easier to find the information you need. Whether you’re looking for school calendars, district policies, or other resources, the new website has all the information you’re looking for. In addition, we encourage you to download our new app to help you stay connected with your child’s school and communicate with your child’s teacher about their progress. You can download the app by clicking here.
I now want to address issues that were brought to my attention this week. Recent discussions about the uniform policy at some of our schools and fees for the Food and Nutrition Program have provided a valuable opportunity for reflection and improvement in our district. These events have underscored the importance of open communication between the district, our schools, and the broader community. We are committed to providing the best customer service by ensuring transparency and responsiveness to your concerns. Your feedback is crucial as we strive to create a supportive and inclusive environment for all students and families.
As we look forward to the weekend, I am excited to support our nominees at the 2024 ESC19 Teacher of the Year awards on Saturday, August 10. Dora Esquivel from Coach Archie Duran Elementary School and Florangela Calderon, a librarian at H.E. Charles Middle School, represent the best of El Paso ISD. We are incredibly proud of their achievements and wish them the best of luck as they compete against other outstanding educators from the region.
Thank you all for your continued support and dedication. I am looking forward to an extraordinary year of achievements and milestones for everyone in El Paso ISD.
It Starts With Us.
Sincerely,
Diana Sayavedra
