(EL PASO, TX – July 8, 2024) — The El Paso Independent School District (EPISD) is pleased to announce several principal appointments and new hires for the upcoming 2024-25 school year. These changes are part of the district's ongoing efforts to enhance educational leadership and ensure the highest standards of academic excellence across all schools. 

High Schools: 

  • Austin High School: Maribel Ruiz has been appointed as the new principal. Ruiz brings a wealth of experience in educational leadership and is dedicated to fostering a positive and inclusive school culture. 

  • College Career Technology Academy/Raymond Telles Academy/Delta: Daniel Montoya will take on the role of principal, where he aims to continue the tradition of academic rigor, student achievement, and college/career readiness for our most At-Risk Students. 

  • San Jacinto Adult Learning Center: Cyndi Ponce has been named principal, focusing on providing adult learners with the skills and knowledge needed for success in their personal and professional lives. 

Middle Schools: 

  • Nolan Richardson: Elena Montero is returning to RMS as the new principal, bringing fresh ideas and a commitment to educational excellence. 

  • Wiggs: Rodolfo “Rudy” Diaz will take on the role of principal, where he plans to build on the school's strengths and promote a positive learning environment. 

Pre-K through 8th Grade Schools: 

  • Dr. Josefina Tinajero PK-8: Martha Martinez will lead as principal, bringing her extensive and award-winning experience with PK8 education to Tinajero. 

  • Charles Q. Murphree PK-8: Christine Miles will continue to inspire students as the principal of this PK8 campus. She is very familiar with the Murphree community and excited to be returning to the Coronado Feeder Pattern. 

Elementary Schools: 

  • Archie Duran: Terry Montes will serve as the principal, aiming to enhance student achievement and community involvement. 

  • Mesita ECDC: Jennifer Mata joins Laila Ferris at Mesita ECDC.  Ms. Mata will be overseeing our early childhood students housed at the ECDC Campus. 

  • Lundy: Hillery Smith has been named principal, bringing her passion for education and student success to the school. 

  • Carlos Rivera: Michelle Pringle will lead as principal, committed to fostering a collaborative and innovative school culture. 

  • Hawkins: Rafael Guardado has been appointed as the new principal, focusing on academic excellence and student well-being. Guardado has over 20 years of experience in the education field. 

  • Coldwell/Sunrise Mountain: Anna Torres will serve as principal, aiming to support both schools with her leadership and dedication to student achievement. 

  • Kohlberg: Patricia Bazan has been named principal and is expected to bring her experience and enthusiasm to the school. 

  • Polk: Summer Steele has been hired as the new principal, ready to lead the school with her innovative approach to education.
