Dear El Paso ISD,
As we prepare to step into the Thanksgiving break, I want to extend my warmest wishes to each of you. This season offers a meaningful opportunity to pause, reconnect with loved ones, and reflect on the many blessings, big and small, that fill our lives.
I also want to express my gratitude to the students, staff, and families who organized food drives, assembled meal baskets, and coordinated Thanksgiving gatherings across our campuses. Your generosity is a powerful reminder of the compassion that defines our district. Thank you for turning kindness into action.
Congratulations to all the campuses who took part in the first-ever Principal Attendance Challenge. The competition showcased the heart and spirit of everyone who is a part of our district. With over 10,000 votes, creative productions and attendance average, the winning schools are: Polk Elementary, Guillen Middle School, and Franklin High School. This contest is a powerful reminder about why being present RightHereRightNow is important, and I want to give kudos to staff, students, and the community for being a part of this effort.
I also want to take a moment to cheer on our Andress High School Golden Eagles, who take the field tonight in a crucial playoff matchup against Melissa High School. Their dedication, teamwork, and perseverance have brought pride to our entire district, and we wish them the very best as they compete in the Area round. The entire El Paso ISD family is behind you, Eagles!
Today also marked the grand opening of our newest Family Resource Center at Lamar Elementary, which will serve families throughout the El Paso High School feeder pattern. This center, like the others located in the Bowie, Jefferson, and Irvin communities, provides families with access to food, hygiene essentials, classes, and support services that strengthen the well-being of our students and families. These centers reflect our belief that when families are supported, students will thrive.
As we look ahead to the remainder of the school year, I want to share how truly honored I feel to serve as your Interim Superintendent. Over the past months, I have seen excellence, creativity, and heart across our schools. Your feedback, collaboration, and commitment to doing what is best for our students continues to guide my work every day. Thank you for your trust.
Once again, I hope each of you enjoys a safe and restful Thanksgiving break. El Paso ISD schools and offices will be closed from November 24–28, and we will reopen on Monday, December 1, 2025.
May this time bring you peace, gratitude, and renewed energy. I look forward to welcoming you all back as we close the semester strong and continue building toward a bright future for our students.
Sincerely,
Martha Aguirre
Interim Superintendent, El Paso ISD
