(EL PASO INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT – September 6, 2024) — It has been a month since the start of the school year when El Paso ISD introduced the new App which offers parents and educators a streamlined single point of communication; the adoption and positive response has been overwhelmingly positive.
Chief Communications Officer Liza Rodriguez described the impetus behind introduction of the new offering. "We heard what our community was asking for, an easier way to communicate with teachers and stay informed so we can all put students in the best situations to succeed and that is really what drove the deployment of the app," Rodriguez said. "We’re grateful for the adoption and have already received feedback on how having an innovative singular place where educators, students, and guardians can connect efficiently is helping elevate the educational experience”
The platform, which launched on August 5, provides parents and students with crucial information, including school news, events, lunch menus, and more. One of the standout features of the app is Rooms, a parent-teacher communication tool that has made connecting with educators easier than ever before.
Lauren Steinmann, President of the El Paso ISD Council of PTAs, praised the app, saying, “The new El Paso ISD app is simplifying things by having a single app for everything. We no longer need to use six apps to understand and follow what is happening in our children's classrooms and schools, plus what is happening at the District. The District has been very open to feedback to help make it more useful, which is much appreciated.”
Parents have also expressed their satisfaction with the app. Raymond Jackson, a parent of two students at Tom Lea Elementary and Transmountain Early College High School, shared his experience: “The app has been a game-changer for our family. I can quickly check the lunch menu, get notifications about upcoming events, and communicate directly with my kids’ teachers. The communication system has made life so much easier.”
Educators have also embraced the app as a valuable tool for enhancing communication with parents. “Rooms has allowed us to stay in touch with parents in real-time. Our teachers can send out reminders about homework, updates on class activities, and even celebrate student successes instantly,” said Dr. Sandra Rocha, El Paso High School Principal. “It’s great to see the district investing in tools that make a difference for both educators and families.”
As El Paso ISD continues to roll out new features and improvements based on user feedback, the app is quickly becoming an indispensable resource for the community. With its first month proving successful, the district is optimistic about the continued positive impact this digital platform will have on students, parents, and teachers alike.
