(EL PASO INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT – May 13, 2025) —El Paso Independent School District Superintendent Diana Sayavedra congratulated the winners of the May 3 school board election, welcomed the new members, and expressed gratitude to the departing members for their service.

EPISD Board of TrusteeOn May 13, 2025, El Paso ISD welcomed its newly sworn-in trustees, Mindy Sutton and Robert Osterland, and re-elected board members Leah Hanany and Dr. Jack Loveridge, marking the beginning of their four-year terms. During this meeting, the Board of Trustees also elected new officers: Leah Hanany as President, Dr. Jack Loveridge as Vice President, and Alex Cuellar as Secretary. The district is eager to collaborate under their leadership and values their dedication to advancing student success.

"I extend my heartfelt congratulations to Trustees Leah Hanany and Dr. Jack Loveridge on their re-election, as well as to newly elected trustees Mindy Sutton and Robert Osterland. “I look forward to working collaboratively with our board as we embrace opportunities and address challenges to continue to strengthen the district for our students, families, and community,” said Sayavedra.

Superintendent Sayavedra expressed deep gratitude for the service of outgoing trustees Israel Irrobali and Isabel Hernandez, highlighting their leadership. “I want to thank Board President Irrobali and Trustee Hernandez for their years of dedicated service to our students, families, and community,” Sayavedra stated. “We wish them both the very best in their future endeavors.”

Dr. Jack LoveridgeThroughout his tenure, Irrobali championed initiatives that supported student success and community engagement. His background in public relations, political science, and economic development helped guide district policy with a focus on opening opportunities for every student. As a trustee, Hernandez remained focused on supporting the whole child and shedding light on the needs of the Northeast. She worked to ensure that the voices of District 4 were heard and that schools such as Transmountain Early College High School, and her alma mater Irvin High School were empowered to serve students with excellence.

As El Paso ISD continues to navigate important challenges — including right-sizing the district and addressing the $23 million budget shortfall for the 2025-26 school year — Superintendent Sayavedra emphasized the importance of collaborative governance. “We are committed to academic excellence, transparency and fiscal accountability as we move forward,” she said. “Strong leadership from our Board of Trustees is essential as we work together to build a sustainable, student-centered future for our district.”

She added that the district will continue to engage stakeholders throughout this process, ensuring that the voices of families, staff, and community members are heard. “Together, we will make strategic decisions that will transform El Paso ISD and ensure that that every student has access to the high-quality education they deserve,” Sayavedra said.
