Early Release for students

Kindness Week
Dear Douglass Families, We are excited to announce that we will be celebrating Kindness Week from February 10th to 14th! This week is dedicated to promoting kindness and compassion within our school community through a variety of fun and engaging activities. Here’s what we have planned: Monday, Feb. 10: Serve Others - Be a Community Hero! Dress as a doctor, police officer, nurse, teacher, or wear a superhero shirt or cape. Let’s remind students how their future careers can help others! Tuesday, Feb. 11: Dreaming of a Kind World! Wear your favorite pajamas. While we dream of kindness, let’s remember to take action and act kindly! Wednesday, Feb. 12: Spread Sunshine and Joy! Wear anything yellow. Be kind, wear a smile, and spread happiness! Thursday, Feb. 13: No Excuses to Be Kind! Wear funky glasses, caps, or mixed-matched clothes. Embrace our differences and accept others as they are! Friday, Feb. 14: Spread the Love! Wear red, pink, or purple and bring a canned food item. Together, we can help those in need! In addition to our daily activities, we will also be hosting a Canned Food and Toiletry Items Drive to benefit the Opportunity Center and Douglass families. Donations are voluntary and can include canned goods, non-perishable food items, toothpaste, toothbrushes, and soap. I will be visiting classrooms in the morning to collect donations and will keep a tally by grade level and classroom. The class that brings in the most items will win a pizza party! This is a wonderful opportunity for our students to learn about empathy, cooperation, responsibility, and gratitude by helping others in need. Thank you for your support, and we look forward to a week filled with kindness!
