Dear El Paso ISD,
Discover the exciting opportunities awaiting your child in El Paso ISD! From our new elementary academies to specialized programs in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering and the best medical pathways at our high schools, there's something for every student's future.
Join us this Saturday, April 26, for our Districtwide Registration Rally, where you can register for the 2025–26 school year and explore the exceptional programs and resources El Paso ISD provides. Campuses across the district will be welcoming families and we look forward to seeing you there!
Congratulations to our Young Women’s STEAM Research & Preparatory Academy who will host its annual STEAM Conference—a dynamic, student-led event designed to inspire and empower eighth-grade girls across the district. From interactive workshops to presentations on college and career pathways, our YWA students have created an exciting day that will open doors and spark curiosity in STEAM fields. We applaud our student leaders for taking the reins and creating such a meaningful experience for their peers.
We’re also looking forward to welcoming the community to the Center for Career and Technology Education (CCTE) for an open house on, May 3. This event will showcase the many pathways available to students through our career and technical education programs. Visitors will have the chance to tour learning spaces, meet teachers, and see live demonstrations from students pursuing certifications in fields ranging from health science to digital media. We’re proud of the incredible work happening at CCTE and hope families will join us to explore the opportunities available.
A big congratulations is also in order for our Franklin High School track and field team, which has made El Paso history with a record-breaking performance at the 6A Regional Championships. These outstanding student-athletes not only earned regional titles in the 4x100m and 4x400m relays, but also qualified for state competition. We are especially proud of Elias Muñoz, who now holds the title of the fastest 100m sprinter in El Paso history, and his teammates—Gerald Williams, Ernie Powers, Ikenna Chikwendu, and Tyson Cotchery—who continue to raise the bar with their commitment, teamwork, and excellence. We will be cheering you on at State!
El Paso ISD has received the official 2023 academic accountability rating from the Texas Education Agency (TEA), which stands at a 78, “C” In January 2023, the district conducted a comprehensive analysis of student performance and district-wide data, projecting a “C” rating well in advance of the official release. Despite the delay in ratings caused by a statewide lawsuit involving multiple districts, we proactively began implementing transformative initiatives to address areas of improvement.
While we are incredibly proud of what we’ve accomplished so far, there is still much work ahead. We are implementing focused strategies and making bold changes to enhance student outcomes, remaining steadfast in our commitment to fostering a culture of high expectations, academic excellence, and continuous growth across all our campuses.
Thank you for supporting our students as they continue to learn, grow, and shine. We are proud of every achievement, and we look forward to even more milestones ahead.
It starts with us.
Sincerely,
Diana Sayavedra
Superintendent, El Paso ISD
