A MESSAGE FROM MARTHA AGUIRRE

Dear El Paso ISD,

Welcome back! I hope you had a restful fall break and are enjoying the cooler weather that marks this beautiful time of year in our community. As we return to our campuses refreshed and reenergized, I’m excited to share some of the incredible things happening across our district.

Our students continue to shine; Chapin High School students earned 1st, 2nd, and 5th place at the Junior Achievement Stock Market Challenge under the guidance of teacher Dora Jones. An impressive achievement that highlights the strength of our academic programs.

Today, our students from the Young Women’s Academy had the special opportunity to meet with Congresswoman Veronica Escobar, who shared her personal journey in public service and encouraged our students to pursue their dreams. The event also gave students the chance to connect and network with their peers from another district, fostering collaboration and shared inspiration. Congresswoman Escobar’s words served as a powerful reminder of the impact of education and leadership.

As Halloween approaches, many of our campuses are hosting fall festivals and family events to provide safe and fun celebrations for our community. I encourage everyone to come out and enjoy the season together.

And if you’re looking for something fun to do this weekend, visit the El Paso Zoo to see our students’ creativity on display in the “Furry & Feathered Art History” exhibit during Boo at the Zoo on Oct. 25–26. The exhibit reimagines famous works of art with an animal-inspired twist and showcases the incredible imagination of our students.

Finally, one of our most important initiatives this fall is the search for our next superintendent, a leader who will continue guiding El Paso ISD toward a bright and successful future. The Board of Trustees has launched the search process and wants to hear directly from our community about the leadership qualities you value most.

I encourage everyone, parents, staff, students, and community members, to participate by attending one of the upcoming community meetings or completing the online Leadership Profile Questionnaire. A Spanish version is also available through the link.

Community Meeting Schedule:

Tuesday, Oct. 28 -1:30 p.m. at Guillen Middle School | 5:30 p.m. at Hartley PK–8

Wednesday, Oct. 29 - 1:30 p.m. at Whitaker Elementary | 5:30 p.m. at Bobby Joe Hill PK–8

Thursday, Oct. 30 - 1:30 p.m. at Polk Elementary | 5:30 p.m. at Don Haskins PK–8

Thank you for your continued trust and partnership. Together, we are building a stronger El Paso ISD for every student.

It starts with us.

Sincerely,

Martha Aguirre

Interim Superintendent of Schools
