(EL PASO INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT – August 21, 2024) — El Paso ISD is proud to announce the appointment of three outstanding educators to leadership positions within the district. Michelle Apsey has been named the new principal of Milam Elementary School, Leticia Terrazas will be the new principal of Guillen Middle School, and Devin Acosta is the new principal of Crockett Elementary School. Each brings a wealth of experience and a passion for education that will undoubtedly benefit their respective school communities.
Principal of Milam Elementary School: Michelle Apsey steps into her new role at Milam Elementary with a robust background in educational leadership and a commitment to fostering academic achievement and student development. Apsey has served as an Assistant Principal at Dr. Josefina Tinajero PK-8, Putnam Elementary, and Milam Elementary, where she facilitated Professional Learning Communities (PLCs), coordinated STAAR testing, and supported both teachers and students. With her extensive experience and dedication to promoting active and project-based learning, Apsey is well-equipped to lead Milam Elementary toward continued success.
Principal of Guillen Middle School: Leticia Terrazas brings over a decade of administrative experience to Guillen Middle School. Prior to this appointment, she served as the Principal of Desert Wind PK-8 School and Myrtle Cooper Elementary. Terrazas’ career has been marked by her strong advocacy for all children and her ability to manage instructional programs and campus operations effectively. She has a deep understanding of TEKS-driven curriculum, data-driven instruction, and professional development, which she has applied to foster positive behavior and academic excellence in her previous roles. Fluent in both English and Spanish, Terrazas' communication skills and problem-solving abilities make her an asset to the Guillen Middle School community.
Principal of Crockett Elementary School: Devin Acosta joins Crockett Elementary as its new principal, bringing with her a diverse and accomplished background in education. Acosta has served as the Principal of Milam Elementary School, where she led a campus of over 900 students, focusing on instructional priorities, school culture, and school safety. Her experience as an Assistant Principal in Canutillo ISD and as an Instructional Coach has equipped her with the skills to support both teachers and students through data-driven instruction and professional development. Acosta's leadership style emphasizes collaboration and innovation, making her a perfect fit for the Crockett Elementary community.
