A MESSAGE FROM DIANA SAYAVEDRA

Dear El Paso ISD,

As we head into the final weeks of January, I am excited to share several updates and highlights that showcase our district’s dedication to academic excellence, equity, and student success.

First, we invite everyone to participate in the voting process for the 2025–26 Academic Calendar revisions and the proposed 2026–27 Academic Calendar. Your input is crucial as we work to align our academic schedules with the needs of our students, families, and staff. These revisions aim to enhance instructional time and provide targeted opportunities for student growth, including Intersession days designed for acceleration and personalized support. Please take a moment to review the proposed calendars and cast your vote.

Our Destination District Redesign (DDR) efforts continue to move forward with priority registration still open for families impacted by the campus closures. Students from Carlos Rivera, Lamar, Newman, Putnam, Rusk, and Zavala Elementary Schools can now select their new campuses for the 2025–26 school year. This process ensures a smooth transition while allowing us to provide tailored resources and support to every student. We are committed to transparency and collaboration as we guide families through this journey of reimagining education in El Paso ISD.

Tomorrow we are hosting a hiring fair at Bowie High School from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. for educators and professionals interested in joining our Accelerated Campus Excellence (ACE) schools. Murphree PK-8, Tinajero PK-8, and Guillen Middle School are adopting the ACE model in the upcoming school year, and we are seeking passionate individuals dedicated to academic excellence and student success. The ACE model has already demonstrated remarkable results at Canyon Hills Middle School, and we are excited to expand its impact to more campuses.

I also want to extend my heartfelt support to the Chapin High School cheerleaders as they prepare to compete in the National Cheerleaders Association High School Nationals this weekend in Dallas. This prestigious event is a testament to the hard work, dedication, and school spirit of these talented students. We are incredibly proud of them and wish them the best of luck as they represent our district and the 915 on the national stage.

Finally, congratulations to the Young Women’s STEAM Academy for earning the College Board AP® Computer Science Female Diversity Award for achieving high female representation in AP computer science courses. This recognition highlights the academy’s commitment to closing gender gaps in STEM education and providing opportunities for young women to excel in high-demand fields. We are proud to see our students and teachers leading the way in fostering innovation and equity.

Each of these updates reflects the shared commitment of our district, staff, families, and community to build a brighter future for all students. Thank you for your continued support as we work together to make El Paso ISD the destination for excellence in education.

It starts with us.

Sincerely,

Diana Sayavedra
