Dear Parent or Guardian,
During the school year, students in grades 3 through 12th will have the opportunity to participate in a social-emotional growth measure survey administered at the beginning, middle, and end of the year to assess their social-emotional development. The beginning of year administration will launch this coming Monday, September 8th.
This survey is designed to capture student voice, allowing them to express their perspectives about school culture, climate, and their classroom experiences. The Student Supports and Environments portion of the survey will enable students to provide feedback specifically on their sense of belonging and teacher-student relationships.
The Student Skills and Social-Emotional Learning Competency Measures will allow students to reflect on their feelings and behaviors concerning positive and challenging emotions, self-management, social awareness, and growth mindset. This information will enable us to make informed, timely decisions that support our students' social emotional development and create learning environments where the whole child can thrive.
If you do not want your child to participate, you may stop by the office to pick up an opt-out form and return it to your child’s teacher or to the office. We are also attaching a copy of this form for your convenience. If you have any questions, please contact or school counselors. Mrs. Liza Rivera at: lvrivera@episd.org or Mr. James Pufal at: jppufal@episd.org
