Dear El Paso ISD,
As we return from the Fourth of July break, I want to share how El Paso ISD is dedicated to empowering our staff and transforming them into effective leaders. Through continuous professional development and strategic collaboration, we aim to equip our educators and administrators with the skills and vision needed to positively impact the lives of our students.
This dedication was evident at the El Paso ISD Professional Leadershift Conference held this week. This conference brought together our esteemed principals and district leaders for a five-day session of inspiration and strategic collaboration. During the event, I spoke about the brighter future ahead for El Paso ISD, reinforcing our collective commitment to excellence and innovation, and reminded everyone about the importance of self-care and wellness, which is part of our district vision.
At El Paso ISD, we are committed to cultivating talent and fostering strong leaders who can make a positive impact. This focus on personal and professional growth is vital as we work to provide academic excellence to all students. We put people first, create a community that instills confidence, and embrace change as we work to get to where we want to be as a district. I reminded our school leaders that we will leverage data and plan strategically in our decision-making process as we all work together to become a destination district.
Additionally, principals shared numerous success stories from their respective schools, underscoring the remarkable achievements of our students and staff. These narratives are a testament to the hard work, dedication, and leadership that define our district.
Keynote speaker Michelle Kinder shared her inspiring journey from growing up in Guatemala to achieving academic excellence at Baylor University and earning a master’s degree in Educational Psychology from the University of Texas at Austin. Her extensive experience and background in educational psychology were central to her address. She emphasized the importance of supporting leaders and embodying emotional intelligence to help students maximize their talents. Her message resonated deeply with the audience, leaving everyone motivated to foster emotional well-being and resilience within their schools.
We also had the pleasure of welcoming our new principals who will begin their roles in the upcoming school year. Their enthusiasm and fresh perspectives will undoubtedly contribute to the continued success and growth of our campuses.
Looking ahead, I'm excited to announce the upcoming Back to School Fiesta on Tuesday, July 30 and Wednesday, July 31, a week before school starts. This event will be hosted at El Paso ISD traditional high schools, offering an opportunity to strengthen connections within our district campuses, feeder patterns, and communities. Join us for an evening of fun, informative gathering, giveaways, and other activities aimed at creating a vibrant and engaging start to the school year.
Our summer musical program featuring Disney's "Descendants" will be performed at the Coronado High School Theatre next week. This captivating production promises to showcase the talent and creativity of our students, further enriching our cultural and artistic community.
