Dear El Paso ISD,
The countdown to a wonderful new school year has begun, and we have exciting plans leading up to the first day of school.
Our team of dedicated leaders are ready to welcome our community to the 2nd annual “Back to School Fiesta,” which will take place over two days, July 30 and July 31. Get ready for an event filled with joy, excitement, and community spirit! This year’s Fiesta promises to be exceptional, featuring fun activities, engaging performances, and plenty of opportunities to reconnect and celebrate. We can’t wait to see you there and share in the festivities that will set the tone for an incredible school year. For more details about this exciting event, please click on this link.
The Jefferson High School community is also celebrating a significant milestone this year as the campus turns 75 years old. Jefferson alumni, staff, and local leaders held a rally on Tuesday and announced a series of events planned for the upcoming school year, including parades and other festivities. Stay tuned for more details.
We are proud to announce the Algebra for All 8th Grade pilot program at seven middle school campuses during the 2024-25 school year. Research suggests that exposure to Algebra at the middle school level can translate into greater success later in life. Therefore, we are excited to extend this opportunity to students at Brown, Canyon Hills, Charles, Guillen, Tinajero, and Wiggs middle schools, as well as Bobby Joe Hill PK-8. This is just one of many enhancements the community can expect as we launch the 24-25 school year.
Additionally, the El Paso ISD Fine Arts Department invites the community to experience its summer musical event. Our talented students will perform a live stage production of Disney’s “Descendants” now through Saturday, July 20. Come witness the amazing work of our stellar student cast. The event is free and open to the public. For a list of dates and times, click on this link.
Families can also check out the Gene Roddenbery Planetarium, which is open to the public next week. Each show is free, and visitors can learn about our solar system. You can find out more about each event by clicking here.
We are also proud to celebrate our recent graduates who earned their diplomas at the 2024 summer graduation, a testament to their perseverance, dedication, and hard work throughout their academic journey. Congratulations to the Class of 2024!
We are thrilled to welcome our new teachers to El Paso ISD next week as we eagerly anticipate the start of the new school year. With renewed enthusiasm and a shared commitment to excellence, we are ready to embark on this exciting journey together. This year promises to be filled with new opportunities, inspiring achievements, and memorable experiences for everyone in the El Paso ISD community. Let’s make this school year our best one yet!
It starts with us.
Sincerely,
Diana Sayavedra
