A MESSAGE FROM DIANA SAYAVEDRA

Dear El Paso ISD,

As we approach Labor Day on Monday, September 2, I want to take a moment to acknowledge the significance of this holiday. Labor Day is dedicated to honoring the hard work and contributions of workers across the nation. It is an opportunity to recognize the dedication and commitment of our staff, who play a crucial role in our district’s success.

Thank you all for your continued support and hard work in making El Paso ISD a district of excellence.

We’ve completed three Destination District Redesign (DDR) meetings this week at El Paso, Irvin, and Jefferson/Silva High Schools. Thank you to each community for your time and participation. Your collaboration is shaping the future of our district. We have six more meetings scheduled—please check our website or contact your campus for details.

This week, we also launched the 2024-25 Superintendent Student Advisory Council (Super SAC). It was a privilege to welcome these outstanding student leaders from our high schools. Their voices and perspectives are vital in shaping our decisions and ensuring we provide excellent learning experiences. I encourage each Super SAC member to keep their peers' needs in mind as they work on meaningful projects this year.

Additionally, we kicked off the Superintendent Teachers Advisory Council (Super TAC) this week. Meeting with these dedicated educators was a highlight, as their insights are key to improving teaching and learning across the district. I'm confident that their collaboration with district leadership will lead to innovative solutions that benefit our entire community.

As we head into the weekend, good luck to all of our athletes who will be competing this weekend. Friday also marks the beginning of the football season. Our student-athletes' spirit and dedication are impressive—here's to a successful and memorable season for everyone! Don’t forget to visit our website for a list of athletic events and to purchase tickets.

I also want to give a shoutout to a former El Paso ISD student, Ryan Medrano, who will be competing in the Paralympic Games in Paris, France, tomorrow. Ryan, a Coronado High School and former Center for Career and Technology Education student, will be representing Team U.S.A. in the games. Good luck, Ryan!

Please remember that our district offices and schools will be closed on Labor Day. Additionally, mark your calendars for Parent-Teacher Conferences on September 10, 11, and 12. We look forward to seeing you there. To see the full list of upcoming events, click here
