Message from Michael V. Soyka, Fort Bliss Garrison Commander

April is a time to celebrate military — connected children, however our commitment to support extends throughout the entire year-ensuring they feel valued, supported, and empowered every step of the way. Month of the Military Child (MOMC) is a proud tradition — and 2026 marks 40 years of celebration. This year’s Month of the Military Child focuses on the strength and resilience of our military-connected youth, and our unifying theme, Legacy of Resilience: 40 Years of Nourishing Our Military Children’s Future, is woven into our outreach efforts for April and beyond.

I encourage everyone to join your campus MOMC celebration day by wearing purple to show your unwavering support for our nation's military-connected children, youth, and teens. It’s a great way to honor the resilience and heart of these young people who thrive through frequent moves, adjusting to new communities, and constant change.

We extend our sincere appreciation to the 42 Chapin High School STEM Magnet students who joined us at Fort Bliss for the ceremony celebrating the advancement of 10x 3D-printed barracks buildings. It was impressive to see students’ engagement as they witnessed giant 3D printers making buildings out of concrete and gained insight from engineers who were applying the science and technology that the students apply in their studies each day and inspire to improve the lives of others. We hope this experience sparked even greater curiosity and motivation as they continue their academic journey.

Just a reminder to all military families to attend the Showcase PreK–12 Event at the Centennial Banquet and Conference Center on April 9 from 5–7 p.m., where district representatives will provide information and resources on specialty programs, athletics, academic programs for families to explore. Resource tables will be available. For more information contact the School Liaison Office at 915-569-5064.
