A MESSAGE FROM DIANA SAYAVEDRA

Dear El Paso ISD,

October is National Principals Month and I want to express my deepest appreciation to all our school leaders. Their dedication and leadership are key to student success and creating positive learning environments. From guiding teachers and staff to creating welcoming spaces where students can thrive, their efforts ensure that our schools are places where excellence is the standard. Let’s take a moment to celebrate their hard work, passion, and unwavering commitment to making a lasting impact in the lives of our students and communities.

Another exciting highlight for El Paso ISD is the opportunity to host the prestigious 2025 Texas Association of Student Councils (TASC) Conference. Burges and Coronado High School student councils will represent our district as hosts of this statewide event. This conference is not just a leadership-building opportunity, but a showcase of our students' fine arts talents on a statewide stage. To support our efforts, the El Paso ISD Education Foundation has joined El Paso Giving Day to raise funds. The Foundation’s partnership with Marathon Petroleum, which is offering a $5,000 matching grant, will help make this conference an unforgettable experience for our students and community.

I’m also incredibly proud to celebrate the success of our fine arts students. El Paso ISD leads the Borderland’s Region 22 Orchestra with 119 students earning spots in the prestigious High School All Region Orchestra. Congratulations to all of our students who have earned this recognition. To learn more about our Fine Arts programs, click here.

Lastly, I want to highlight the progress of the Destination District Redesign (DDR). At this month’s board meeting, we presented a preliminary recommendation that will guide our next steps. This is an ongoing process, and we truly want to move forward in partnership with the community. The DDR initiative focuses on expanding academic programming, modernizing facilities to meet 21st-century standards, and strategically rightsizing the district to ensure long-term sustainability and growth.

Your input remains crucial, and I encourage you to attend one of the upcoming DDR meetings to help shape the future of El Paso ISD. Visit our DDR page for details and meeting dates.
