A MESSAGE FROM DIANA SAYAVEDRA

Dear El Paso ISD Community,

We understand that the decision to approve the Destination District Redesign (DDR) plan, including the closure of eight campuses over two phases, starting in the 2025–26 school year, is challenging for everyone involved. We want to acknowledge the impact this has on our students, families, and staff. Schools are more than just buildings; they are places of connection, achievement, and growth.

This is a difficult time, and we are here to face it together. Our priority is to ensure this transition is handled with care, compassion, and a focus on supporting every member of our community. We are committed to providing the resources and guidance needed to navigate this change, always keeping the best interests of our students at the forefront. Our goal is to emerge from this process as a stronger, more resilient district that continues to offer high-quality public education to every student.

The introduction of the Accelerated Campus Excellence (ACE) model at Murphree PK-8 reflects our commitment to transforming academic opportunities while fostering social-emotional growth. This initiative represents a complete restart, focused on identifying and placing high-quality staff to ensure significantly improved academic outcomes for all students.

In addition to the redesign, we are proud to share other positive steps forward. The El Paso ISD Board of Trustees has approved a $500 one-time pay increase for eligible employees, to be distributed on December 13, 2024. This is a token of our appreciation for their dedication and hard work.

I want to take a moment to celebrate Franklin High School’s robotics teams, which are now ranked among the top 100 in the world! Their hard work, creativity, and dedication to innovation make them a shining example of what our students can achieve. Congratulations to the teams for this incredible accomplishment!

As we embrace the holiday season, we invite you to join us in spreading joy by participating in the annual Toys for Tots drive. Please consider donating new, unwrapped toys to help ensure every child experiences the magic of the holidays. Donations can be dropped off at 1014 N. Stanton St. or 1100 N. Stanton St. by Friday, Dec. 13. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of children in need.

Finally, as we approach Thanksgiving break, I want to wish everyone a restful and joyous time with your loved ones. May this holiday be filled with warmth, gratitude, and cherished moments with family and friends.

Thank you for your continued support of El Paso ISD. Together, we will keep building a brighter future for our students.

It starts with us.

Sincerely,

Diana Sayavedra
