A MESSAGE FROM DIANA SAYAVEDRA

Dear El Paso ISD,

I hope everyone enjoyed a safe and festive Halloween

We continue our commitment to community engagement within Destination District Redesign (DDR) by hosting a series of community meetings at campuses across the district. These meetings are designed to provide families and community members of proposed right-sizing campuses and proposed receiving campuses with essential information about the transition plans for sister campuses. They also serve as a forum to gather feedback and address questions related to the future of district facilities and educational programming. The final vote on the DDR plan will take place on Nov. 19, 2024.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who attended this year’s State of the District event including our outstanding student performers! It was great to see so many of our students showcasing their talents to everyone at the event. Bravo! Through the generosity of our community and partners, we raised significant funds for the El Paso ISD Education Foundation, supporting Classroom Impact Grants and scholarships that empower our students to follow their dreams. We are deeply grateful to our El Paso ISD family and partners—your support truly makes a difference for our students and staff.

We’re thrilled to celebrate the incredible achievements of the Franklin High School Robotics Team, currently ranked 3rd out of 9,238 teams worldwide! With an impressive 21-0 record in competitive matches, the team has secured places in the Texas Region 1 Regionals, U.S. Create Nationals in Iowa, and the UIL competition in Houston. Congratulations to these talented students for their dedication and success on the world stage!

We also extend warm congratulations to El Paso ISD Float Nurse Grace Carbajal, named the 2024 Texas School Nurse of the Year! With over 30 years of nursing experience, including 17 years in school nursing, Grace joined our district in 2022 and has since been a cornerstone of student care. This award honors her dedication and passion for holistic student health. We’re incredibly proud of Grace and look forward to celebrating her achievement at the Texas School Nurses Organization Conference on November 2.

Congratulations as well to our exceptional student-athletes! Fourteen El Paso ISD athletes have qualified for the UIL State Cross Country Championship, held November 1-2 in Round Rock, Texas. These athletes have shown outstanding commitment, discipline, and skill, and we know they’ll continue to make us proud. Best of luck to each of them—we’re cheering for you!

Lastly, a quick reminder: Daylight Saving Time ends this weekend. Don’t forget to set your clocks back an hour and enjoy that extra rest!

Thank you for your ongoing commitment to our El Paso ISD family. Together, we’re creating a brighter future for all our students.

It starts with us.

Sincerely,

Diana Sayavedra
