Dear Moye Families,
We would like to inform you that students in Grades 2–5 will be participating in TELPAS assessments this week as outlined below:
Wednesday, February 25: TELPAS Listening and Speaking
TELPAS (Texas English Language Proficiency Assessment System) measures students’ English language development and is a required state assessment. The results help ensure students receive appropriate instructional support and services.
Student attendance is extremely important on these testing days.
TELPAS assessments must be completed within a specific testing window, and absences may require students to test on make-up days, which can be more stressful and disruptive to instruction. Being present and on time allows students to test in a calm, familiar environment and do their very best.
To support your child, please help us by:
Ensuring your child attends school on testing days
Avoiding appointments or early pick-ups during testing times
Making sure your child gets plenty of rest and arrives to school on time
Thank you for your continued partnership and support. If you have any questions regarding TELPAS testing, please feel free to contact the school.
Together, we can help our students confidently show their growth and learning!
Sincerely,
Julie Chavez
Principal

This morning, our campus conducted a scheduled lockdown drill as part of our ongoing commitment to student safety. I want to assure you that students and staff responded calmly and appropriately, and the drill was completed successfully.
Lockdown drills are a required part of our safety procedures and help ensure that students and staff know exactly what to do in the event of an emergency. Please know that there was no threat to the campus at any time; this was strictly a practice drill.
Please talk with your child this evening about the drill and reassure them that these safety practices are in place to keep everyone protected.
Thank you for your continued support in helping us maintain a safe learning environment for all students.
Sincerely,
Julie Chavez
Principal, H.R. Moye Elementary School
