Our Early College Program

Established in 2008 on the Transmountain campus of El Paso Community College, Transmountain Early College High School serves the El Paso metropolitan area by offering two distinct degree pathways: the Associate of Arts and the Associate of Science. It is one of the few campuses with the unique ability to provide both options.

How the program works

At TMECHS, students in the Early College Program can earn an Associate’s Degree in Science or Arts while completing their high school diploma. An Associate’s Degree means completing 60 college credit hours—half the credits needed for a Bachelor’s Degree. By the time our students graduate, they’re already halfway to a college degree!

We provide strong support to help students succeed in both high school and college classes. With intervention strategies and dedicated staff, we ensure students thrive academically. As a result, 97% of our students graduate with a college degree, and 100% earn their high school diploma every year.

Our dual credit courses, taught in person by certified teachers and professors, let students earn high school and college credit at the same time. This program gives students a head start on college while saving time and money. These classes are challenging but rewarding, preparing students for academic and career success.

Success at TMECHS requires motivation and dedication. Students need both external encouragement, like earning college credit and family support, and internal drive to stay focused and overcome challenges. Along the way, we help them build essential skills like time management, goal setting, and problem-solving.

At TMECHS, students achieve big goals with hard work and the support of our committed staff. They leave confident, prepared, and ready to take on college and the future!
