Principal's Message

Welcome to the Transmountain Early College High School (TMECHS) website. Transmountain serves the El Paso Independent School District as both an Early College High School and a T-STEM Academy (Texas Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math Academy). Our students work toward the completion of a college Associate’s Degree, while participating in high school coursework that qualifies for the Distinguished Achievement Graduation Plan.

Our school seeks students who are interested in STEM fields, but takes applications from any student who successfully gets promoted to 9th grade. Our students concentrate on academics, but are also provided traditional high school experiences (i.e. dances, clubs, community service/leadership opportunities). Our students also have the opportunity to participate in research programs/internships with college instructors from both El Paso Community College and The University of Texas at El Paso.

TMECHS teachers work diligently to ensure our students maximize their academic capabilities. Their work has resulted in a campus rating of “Exemplary “since the school’s inception in 2008. Almost 100% of our instructors have Master’s Degrees in their content field, which results in several of our staff also teaching at the El Paso Community College, University of Texas at El Paso, and/or Park College.

Many of our students and staff have been recognized for their work by being named District Employee-of-the-Month, Outstanding Mentor/Novice Teachers, SSEP program student honorees, T-STEM student project award winners, etc.

TMECHS is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools and meets the expectations outlined by the Texas Education Agency and the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board.
